Won the All American Gold Medal Award 1979. When the pod is bent, it will snap like a snap bean. The peas can be shelled or pods and peas can be eaten together.
Culture: Peas do best in rich, light, moisture retentive soil. Will not thrive in waterlogged or very dry soil. Dislikes very hot weather. Early spring and/or early autumn planting in South are most suitable. Vines need to be trellised.
Harvest: Thick, round pods can be snapped like green beans or left on the vine until 5-7 green peas mature. Strings develop at full maturity. Freezes well, cannot stand the heat of canning.
Nutrition: Good source of vitamin C and iron, protein, and fiber.
