Flesh is clear white, sweet, and crisp. The quality is better if radishes are pulled when not quite mature. Good for slicing as a garnish or in salads. Also called "China Celestial Radish." Good sprouting variety as well. Very good for both spring and fall planting. Heirloom variety.
Culture: Sow the seeds shallowly. Chinese white radishes grow to be more than a foot long, so give them plenty of space. The radish seeds are sown directly into the ground. Water frequently. It is imperative to maintain moist soil. Add nitrogen-rich fertilizer or manure to the soil to improve the root growth and leaf structure.
Harvest: When roots are 2"-4" (5-10 cm) in diameter, overgrown roots become pithy and stringy.
Nutrition: Source of vitamin C.
